Ryu is the main character of the Street Fighter video game series by Capcom, and one of the company's most famous mascots alongside Mega Man. He's a Japanese martial artist who travels the world in search of opponents who can test his skills and better his own abilities. He has appeared in all the Street Fighter games, and has many clones, including Ken and Akuma. He is also the first Smash Bros. character to originate from a traditional 2D fighting game, later joined by Ken, Terry Bogard, and Min Min.
