Larry Potter is a character from Nancy K. Stouffer's 1984 novel, Larry Potter and Best His Friend Lilly. The story is about a boy named Larry and his misadventures when he finds out that he needs to wear eyeglasses.

Larry bears a striking resemblance in both name and appearance to J.K. Rowling's famous character, Harry Potter. Both Stouffer and J.K. Rowling were actually involved in legal battles over the books. Not only are the main characters similar, but both authors used similar terms in their books, even though they all meant different things (like the word "muggle"). In the end, Rowling was not found guilty of anything, but Stouffer was given a $50,000 fine for not being able to back up her claims of plagiarism.
