Knuckles the Echidna is a red echidna character from numerous Sonic the Hedgehog games. He is the guardian of the Master Emerald on the Floating Island and in most games has been fooled by Dr. Ivo Robotnik into thinking that Sonic the Hedgehog is out to steal the Chaos Emeralds, so he often tries to impede Sonic's progress. He has the ability to glide through the air as well as using his knuckles to tunnel and climb walls.
