Purple Tentacle is a character from the games Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle. As the name suggest, he's an ambulatory, disembodied purple tentacle. In Maniac Mansion, he was Dr. Fred's henchman, who tried to block your progress through the mansion but was easily impressed. In Day of the Tentacle, however, he drank some water contaminated by the Sludge-O-Matic machine, causing him to grow stubby arms, develop super-intelligence and an evil streak, and embark on a campaign of world conquest.
