Benito Mussolini was the dictator of Fascist Italy, from 1922 to 1943. He had big dreams of building a modern-day Roman Empire, and actually managed to conquer Ethiopia and Albania. Thankfully, he was deposed by the Allies in 1943, and he met his ignoble end hanging dead from a meathook in Rome's town square. Most humour involving him is probably derived from his short stature, pudginess, and the fact that he is constantly seen with Hitler, mindlessly copying his moves.
