Light Yagami (夜神 月) is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series Death Note. He starts out as your typical goody-two-shoes high school senior, but one day he discovers a notebook labeled "Death Note" outside his school. He takes it home and the shinigami Ryuk tells him what it is for and how to use it. Henceforth, Light becomes the "God of a new world", using the notebook to kill anyone and everyone he believes deserves it, leading the police on a long and winding manhunt that eventually kills him.

Many image macros and parodies of Light exist, often mocking one of the scenes in a later episode where he is supposedly giving swimming lessons.
