Deadbeat father, Machiavellian schemer, and all around creepy guy who makes wearing glasses look cool, Gendo Ikari is one of the main characters of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. As head of the top secret government project NERV, Gendo is tasked with leading the defense of Earth against giant alien monsters known as the Angels. To accomplish this end, Gendo employs Japan's greatest tactical secret: angst-ridden teenagers (including his own son, Shinji) piloting giant robots.
