Kim Jong-il was the dictator of the Communist state known as North Korea until his death in 2011. He inherited the position from his father, Kim Il Sung, whose party seized power during the Korean War. Kim has long been the butt of jokes in the West and elsewhere due to his small stature, monkey-ish face, ridiculous hair, and large glasses. He was the main villain in the puppet movie Team America: World Police.
