Colors

I would suggest giving up your crusade against having differently colored bars in the Animutation Infobox, especially since, now that the infoboxes are generated using a template, it is not possible to override them on a single page without editing the template itself (which will become impossible once I get the template edit-protected due to its widespread usage and the lag generated every time it gets modified). This is not your private website, but a public wiki, and public sites need to adhere to some level of standards and consistency in order to be properly usable; though one might argue that the wiki isn't particularly usable in its current state, the {{animutation infobox}} template is just one of several steps in the direction of improving it. --Quietust 12:46, 1 June 2007 (PDT)

Response to "Colors"

______I did not spend all that time in flash, pouring my very heart and soul into this audiovisual medium, to have them shamelessly thrown into this conformist nightmare that is the template. I believe it is the right of an individual, to edit the wiki in such a manner to make it more smooth flowing, and, in a sense, more aesthetically appealing. That is a right that I hold dear. The “new” wiki template that the Animutation Wiki has initiated into each and every animutation page does not fit the current, and ever growing needs associated with my particular editing style, and the specific content of mine featured in the aforementioned template. I think that the template you initiated is good, but I think that my animutation wiki pages deserve something “different.” The revised and edited template that is underway offers a greater amount of flexibility compared to the auto generated template that you are in the process of improving and applying to the wiki. It offers a slightly larger image thumbnail as compared to the template. Also, the black background with the colored text ensured that the thumbnails looks more “bordered” instead of just floating in a sea of white. My “crusade” as you call it is merely a spur of creativeness that, in effect, could add a flare of style to a much needed page. It could even correspond to the animutation. For example, I recently stumbled upon an animutation that I have yet to add to the wiki (Due to all the work on the EG template) which has a very dark theme to it. The main colors in the animutation are a dark shade of Green, Purple, and Blue. The template of the wiki could correspond to that. The bars could be dark shades of the three colors. A color for each bar. This template is a minor change to the bland yellow that is the auto-template.

______Secondly, I would like to get this off my chest. I may boast about the pristine quality of Wild Wild West, or boast about how the superior choreography of Epilepsy Get blows all the other pathetic excuses for Windows Movie Maker animutations out of the water. But in all realism, I know that absolutely nobody knows about the two, or could really care less about them. That is why I do not understand the fuss about the whole colored template ordeal. Just ask yourself right now: “How many people are actually going to visit the pages for Wild Wild West and Epilepsy Get?” Seriously, ask that to yourself. Now I know that I am not Neil C., Andrew K., or Drunkmagikoopa. I do not have people constantly looking around my pages revising, and editing them. My pages are never visited. I have no fans in this particular medium of communication. I am a nobody on the internet. Therefore, only I will probably be the only one seeing my pages. That is why I do not understand your push to add conformity to two wiki pages that are rarely visited. Your motivation is beyond my grasp of reasoning. Compare the two templates side by side. They are not that different. When mine is done, you will see that you are making a big fuss over nothing. Mine is merely more colorful.

______In conclusion, I will state this bluntly; I made the animutations. I took time out of my busy schedule to make these, could I at least have some recognition. You can make the wiki pages of your animutations look the way you want them to, and I will make the pages of mine look the way I think the pages should look. It is all I ask. Just a little freedom from the chains of yellow oppression that is the template. --User:Alex_Cameron 6/1/2007 9:00 PM (PDT)
