The only character to (really) appear besides Snape is Lockhart, who occasionally pops up in one scene.
In the "I'm too sexy for New York and Japan" scene, on the state of New York is a crossed out "New Amsterdam" and a "New York". That is a reference to a They Might Be Giants song "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" through the lyrics: "Even old New York was once New Amsterdam. Why, they changed it, I can't say. People just like it better that way."
