Greetings!
This is Davidizer13, an animutation fan with some kind of vision. I don't make 'em, I just enjoy them. Below, I have a scholarly proof of animutational pacing as it relates to image speed (coming soon), and also some long-form reviews of some of my favorite animutes. Have fun!
Reviews
All reviewed animutes get a score, up to 100.
Hyakugojyuuichi
This is the very first animutation I watched. I found it by pure accident, and I liked it. In fact, I liked it so much, I went to [[1]] and saw a great many of them. I liked them even more. I found the Animutation Portal. I got to the wiki you are at. And, out of all the animutations I have watched, this one still holds a special place in my heart. One of the classics, it has changed me in so many ways. It is the archetypal animutation; a Japanese Pokemon song, Mochrie Sun, Jay Jay, poorly cut out mouths, wacked out mondegreens, etc. This is animutation at its infancy and Neil Cicierega at some of his best; very raw and plain, and completely pointless. Watching it makes me happy, for some reason. It is something I could do, and yet I can't bring myself to it. Not having Flash doesn't help this either. I've seen a sockpuppet do Numa Numa. I saw the Yatta! video. But this is still the weirdest thing I have ever seen online.
Points For: Drugged-out style, plain backgrounds, bizarrity, just plain fun to watch, mondegreened chorus. Please do not read this text.
Points Against: Low quality, inspired Hyakugojyuuichi 3.
Score: 94/100. A must-watch.
The Fingertips Project
It's a bunch of animutators coming together for one common goal: To make an animute even more incoherent than any ever before. I will review each section in short form, then rate them all overall.
Everything Is Catching On Fire by Random Ferret: It's the Insert Coin screen for Animutation Fighter, a fictional arcade. Street Fighter sprites pop up in the background and do their thing. Good looking stuff. 8/10
Fingertips (Banjo) by Toxic AKA Bob Barker A guy shaking his fingertips with a banjo playing. Cheesy, but good. 8/10
I Hear the Wind Blow by UN-J Some consider this UN-J's best work. But I say that goes to Gone with the Wind 1979. It's better than the first two, with some kind of rotting robot rock star getting called a dud and buried. Surreal, to say the least. Made in Missouri. 9/10
Hey Now Everybody by Toxic AKA Bob Barker Random inverted monochrome sprites dance, and hay pops up. Whoa. 9/10
Who's That Standing at the Window? by Eric Fleck Probably the weakest of the bunch, but it's still enjoyable. A sketched guy finds a killer Burger King outside. 7/10
I Found a New Friend Underneath My Pillow by Neil Cicierega Old guy finds a Chippendale dancer under his pillow. Low-quality Flash drawings show the action. Neil done good. 9/10
Wreck My Car by Andrew Kepple A robot gets built to wreck a car. He did it quite well. Crazy random fun. 9/10
Aren't You the Guy Who Hit Me in the Eye? by Chainsaw Juggler Some drunk wakes up with a black eye. He goes through several Hyakugojyuuichi references to find the culprit, who is one of several random images. 9/10
Please Pass the Milk Please by Nathew Two hands toss around a cow and another guy sings. Then the cow gets abducted. Creeeepy. 8/10
Leave Me Alone by Eric Fleck Muscle Mochrie pleads for privacy among many scenes of his animutational career. 9/10
Who's Knocking on the Wall? by Nathew Some guy sings in front of the Berlin Wall, and a random image pops up. Bill Volk did a lot better with his Lost Fingertips section of the same song. 7/10
All Alone (All By Myself) by Neil Cicierega He uses a style similar to one part of Wizard Power to make this Vetruvian Man parody feel lonely. Trippy, man. 9/10
What's That Blue Thing Doing Here? by Mudi It's a Zero Wing Rhapsody parody. And it's the Blue Thing and Mochrie Sun. 8/10
Something Grabbed a Hold of My Hand by Andrew Kepple and Glutnix Alex Chiu gets his hand stolen and dragged across the land of the French Erotic Film. They both land in the Jerry Springer Show. YUOR ZIG A SPLODE. And remember to fix the Laws of Physics. With duct tape if necessary! The later sequences start to redeem the first part here. 10/10
I Don't Understand You by Bill Volk This can be considered the Japanese Pokerap Mini. It uses some of the same dialogue and images, but to more hilarious effect. Starring Cthulthu, the Riddler, and a hilarious scroll bar about how people you can't understand are better than you. 10/10
I Heard a Sound by Bort Drew Carey, Bilbo Baggins, a guy cupping his ear, and some villain create a bizarre short. 9/10
Mysterious Whispers by Keith Stack That guy from King of the Hill walks through a few sequences, which are quite strange. He cries at the end. Sad, isn't it? Notice how much the Spongebob and Patrick picture resembles the piano one at the beginning of Shumway. And look at his feet! 9/10
The Day That Love Came to Play by Toxic AKA Bob Barker A googly-eyed heart plays keytar and gets crushed by a monitor. Huzzah! 9/10
I'm Having a Heart Attack by Bill Volk Drab guy sings about his circulatory condition in front of Wesley Willis and Dave Thomas, believed victims of The Curse. 9/10
Fingertips by Eric Fleck A guy moves his thumb to make his hand sing. It whispers "Fingertips" twice. 8/10
I Walk Alone Darkened Corridors by Andrew Kepple Muscle Mochrie does one final sequence, including props from the rest of the sequences. They have a huge rockout sequence, concluding with Mochrie feeding himself to a random head. Don't miss the ANIMUTATION HAIKU GENERATOR V1.51. 10/10
It's really good, though some sequences could have been stronger. Still a must-see. Overall rating: 93/100
