About
Foo-La-La! is a rare example of a fanimutation not made with Macromedia Flash. Instead, Indogutsu chose to create it using ASCII's RPG Maker 2000 (RM2K) software, which allows the user to control all aspects of producing a role-playing game in the style of the 16-bit (SNES/Genesis) era. Because of RM2K's limitations, Foo-La-La only presents pictures without animating them, making it nothing more than a "slideshow with sound" in Dwedit's words. Still, it might be worth a download because it takes Rip Slyme's 2004 hit "Dandelion" and turns it into an extravaganza of mondegreens and SNES game screenshots.
The original RM2K version of Foo-La-La is hosted by Gaming Ground Zero, a site dedicated to quality games and resources for RPG Maker 2000. To download, click on the logo image, then "Games" in the left sidebar once you get to the main page, and finally select "Foo-La-La" from the drop-down menu. Like all things made using RM2K, Foo-La-La requires the RM2K Run-Time Package (RTP) in order to run or doing research papers made. However, due to legal complications with ASCII, you won't find the link to the RTP on this wiki. Perhaps a Google search will help you find what you're looking for?
On March 30, 2005, a Flash-based remake of this music video (weighing in at 3.96 MB) was completed by Quietust, a regular contributor to this wiki and Dwedit's message board. Dwedit's response: "I think it is now in good enough shape to be set loose onto Newgrounds, where it will promptly be blammed."

Audio Details
- "Dandelion" was released by Rip Slyme as a single in the summer of 2004.
- The preloader music is a MIDI loop composed by Indogutsu Tenbuki for "New Ordeals," one of his older RM2K projects that has since been discontinued.
Trivia
- This animutation contains several references to other animutations.
- Elvis Not Included: Barry White, Yourself Cola, The Angry Potato, Batboy, Fear the Chipmunk Samurai
- Dash: The unreasonably high price of the Salami Corn Pie parallels the unreasonably high price of Gucci Cola.
- Team Rocket's Journey Through Silicon Valley: "Sports Yeah!" Magazine
- Dan Hibiki For Prezidénté: "I want a Whummo!"
- Suzukisan: Ketchup Red Shoe
- Hyakugojyuuichi: The Middle Finger's appearance, the scene with Colin Mochrie and Jay Jay
- Arfenhouse 2 (not an animutation, but an animutation-like Flash movie nonetheless): The "6 minutes long and 4 megs in size" line in the Flash version's preloader may be a reference to the "30 seconds long, but 4 megs in size" line from Another Boring Sprite Movie that Shamelessly Steals from 8-Bit Theater. Also, the Final Fantasy 6-style battle scene is a nod to Misteroo's Flash movies.
- Pokey and the Ombaoojiebaseo: See above.
- "A Corn Snack of Crunchy Type" is the slogan for a Japanese snack food called Tongari Corn, at least according to Dave Barry in his humorous travelogue Dave Barry Does Japan.
- "With 100% Uh-Huh" is the slogan for a Diet Pepsi ad campaign from the early 1990s, which featured the late musician Ray Charles.
- The "Director: Hiroi Sakai" picture is supposedly a screenshot of the credits sequence from "Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire" for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. In reality, there is no such a person as Hiroi Sakai; Indogutsu just used that name because it sounded like what Rip Slyme was singing. The actual director of "Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire" is Junichi Masuda (who also acted as an assistant in the game's scenario, programming, and music departments).
- The original RM2K version of this music video has three options on the end screen: Replay, Exit, and "Scroll," a never-before-seen feature which allows the viewer to freely scroll through every picture in the movie, taking as much time as needed. In the Flash remake, the "Scroll" feature has been replaced by a scroll bar on the bottom of the screen, similar to the ones seen in JamezBond and Suzukisan.
- When Chester Cheetah appears, he is supposed to be wailing on his guitar, though an optical illusion may suggest he is doing something rather different.
- In the third and final appearance of Vary Widely, she is quoting the song "I Think We're Alone Now" by Tommy James and the Shondells (and later re-popularized by Tiffany).
- The painting in the background of the "A scene undotted, eh, Gail?" frame is Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat.
- In one of the frames, it is jokingly mentioned that Neil Voss and Neill Corlett started a band with Neil Cicierega. Neil Voss is a video game music composer who has worked on the soundtracks for a few Nintendo 64 games, while Neill Corlett helped fan-translate several SNES games and created a few different game music sound file formats.
- Before the Fanimutation Wiki was hacked and all of the information added between late 2005 and early 2006 was lost, Corlett himself posted on Foo-La-La's discussion page, and said it might actually be fun to start a band with Cicierega. (No word from Voss as of yet, though.)
- During the closing credits frame, you can hear a randomly-chosen Homer Simpson sound bite. There are eight in all:
- "('19.') Hit me. ('20.') Hit me. ('21.') Hit me. ('22.') D'oh!"
- "Mmmm... 64 slices of American cheese..."
- "Marge, are we Jewish? ('No, Homer.') Woo-hoo!"
- "Gasp! That dog has a puffy tail! Hee hee hee hee hee! Here, Puff! Here, Puff! Hee hee hee hee hee!"
- "Hey, can you take the wheel for a second? I need to scratch myself in two places at once."
- "Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked."
- "Hello, is this President Clinton? Good! I figure if anyone knew where to get some Tang, it'd be you. Shut up!"
- "It was the most I ever threw up, and it changed my life forever." (The "Replay" chime will sound afterwards if this quote is chosen.)
- As of July 13, 2005, this fanimutation is tied for first with Hyakugojyuuichi Forever on the list of Fanimutations sorted by Length. However, it is dead last on the list of Fanimutations sorted by Complexity. This is also the longest page on FanimutationWiki.
- Despite its title, new issues of Weekly Carrot are published monthly, according to the December 2004 issue's cover. The date is a reference to how the original version of this fanimutation was released in December of 2004.
- Pizza Royalhat is a real chain of pizzerias in Japan. They offer a variety of distinctly Japanese specialty pizzas, pasta dishes, and assorted prepared meals collectively known as "Delica," but not Salami Corn Pie.
- The appearance of "Kind/Form Lotion" stems from a joke on the Gaming Ground Zero forums, in which Indogutsu started a thread asking members if they have ever e-mailed Strong Bad, and if so, what they said to him. One person asked Strong Bad if he ever used any kind or form of lotion, but used incorrect grammar (as seen in the frame). Another person made fun of his grammar by posting a Photoshopped image of an actual "Kind/Form Lotion" dispenser, also seen in the frame.
- Another reference to the Gaming Ground Zero forums is Leigh (AKA Scary Upamon), who is a moderator there.
- The "O" in the Eucomaden logo is lifted from the Prozac logo. The frame is intended to spoof print and television ads for prescription drugs in the United States.
- The article for this movie is one of the first articles on the Fanimutation Wiki to receive "Complete" status, due in no small part to Quietust and Indogutsu being two of the wiki's most prolific editors.
